Dr. Marcelle Mentor is a Lead Professional Development Advisor at the Center for Professional Development of Teachers (CPET) and an Adjunct Professor at Teachers College, Columbia University. She is a Scholar, Professor and Researcher who is a seasoned higher education professional with over two decades of experience specializing in teacher preparation. She holds a doctorate from Teachers College, Columbia University.

 Dr. Mentor’s vital work centers on Teacher Preparation and Mentoring, Educational Equity, and Teaching Writing and Reading, with scholarship grounded in Black Studies, intersectional analyses, transnationalism and dismantling anti-Black racism. 

A native South African, her instructional approach is driven by the ethic of Ubuntu—the belief that our humanity is shared. Dr. Mentor is a Researcher, Practitioner, Writer of Creative Non-Fiction, Forever Learner, Dreamer, and Disruptor who remains persistently Hopeful in her mission to transform education.

She believes in equity of access to education for all.
